Good for the Earth, even better in your glass

Good for the Earth, even better in your glass

Today, on World Environment Day, we celebrate our shared responsibility to protect the planet Earth — and the role Australian Vintage plays in shaping a more sustainable future.

As a certified B Corp, environmental responsibility is embedded not just in our constitution but it’s in our DNA. It’s more than a badge — it’s a commitment to continuous improvement, ethical practices, and creating shared value for people and the planet. Every decision we make is guided by our belief that business should be a force for good.

Sustainability is rooted across our business, from vine to glass. Through our work with Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, we have certified 100% of our owned and operated sites, and collaborated with our valued grower partners to ensure 92% of our 2025 vintage was certified.

Additionally, our sites are also 100% powered by renewable energy. Last year, we diverted 340 tonnes of waste from landfill, showing that real progress is possible with collaboration and vision.

Sustainable Innovation

Our impact doesn’t stop there. We recently introduced recyclable tearaway capsules across our portfolio. Developed in partnership with Interpack, this innovative capR closure allows the aluminium sleeve to be completely removed from the bottle, making it easier for consumers to recycle both components properly.

Why does that matter? Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, and 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today. By simplifying the recycling process, we’re helping to keep valuable materials in circulation and out of landfills.

Combined with our use of lightweight glass and renewable electricity, this initiative reflects a fully considered, sustainability-first approach at every stage of the wine’s journey. The result? Premium wines with a purpose—and a lighter footprint for the planet.

Company-wide action

Sustainability at AV also means rolling up our sleeves and contributing directly to our communities.

A team from Buronga Hill Winery recently joined Project: Re-snagging — an initiative led by Sunraysia OzFish to restore native fish habitats along the Murray River team, and also participated in Clean Up Australia Day, joining thousands of Australians working to reduce waste in their local environments.

As we raise a glass today, let it be one filled with purpose. Positive impact is a company-wide responsibility.

Thank you to everyone across the business—vineyard teams, winemakers, marketers, operational team, and our valued partners. Leading with integrity, innovating boldly, and positively impacting the land that provides for us.
