Lighten Up this winter with the new Tempus Two lower alcohol and reduced calories wine

Brand News | June 2021

Tempus Two launches Lighten Up, a new lower alcohol and reduced calorie wine range, available from June 2021.

With a Prosecco, Rosé and Pinot Noir, all 750ml with an ABV of 6.8% and light in alcohol content, these wines are not to be taken lightly. Tempus Two Lighten Up doesn’t compromise on quality or flavour.

Tempus Two winemaker, Andrew Duff, says, “Lighten Up is perfect for those who are looking to lighten their alcohol intake and reduce calories but still want to participate in the occasion. Enjoy a bottle at an afternoon picnic, long lunch, sporting event, birthday dinner or work function. It’s often perceived that lower alcohol wines lack depth however that’s not the case with Lighten Up. We’ve got over 20 years’ experience developing this style of wine so consumers can feel confident they are getting a premium quality wine that’s full of flavour.”

As Australians put more thought into moderating the amount of alcohol they consume, three out of 10 consumers aged 18-34 state that they choose no or low-alcohol wine because they are on a diet (Wine Intelligence, February 2021). Lighten Up has more than 30% less alcohol and 30% less calories than a standard bottle of Tempus Two Varietal Series, making it perfect for those leading a balanced lifestyle.

Tempus Two uses the latest spinning cone technology to remove alcohol using a lower temperature that is ‘gentler’ on the wine. This allows it to retain more varietal fruit character, aromatics and taste without needing to harvest the grapes before they are ripened to ensure low alcohol.

For the environmentally focused, Lighten Up is produced with 100% of winery energy sourced from solar and wind power as well as 100% biodegradable paper stock used for the labels and recycled cartons.

Lighten Up Series:

  • Lighten Up Prosecco: pear, lemon sherbet, citrus and green apple mingle with delicate bubbles for a crisp finish. Perfect served as an aperitif or with fresh salads, spice and seafood.
  • Lighten Up Rose: aromas of strawberries and cream with nuances of lime and orange peel. Balanced, juicy and refreshing with waves of red apple peel, strawberry and maraschino cherry. Enjoy on its own, a perfect accompaniment to a light lunch and the sweet and sour, spicey and salty Asian dishes.
  • Lighten Up Pinot Noir: aroma of raspberries and strawberries complemented by delicate spice with a palate of black cherries and red berries. Pairs well with a range of foods including pizza, duck, roast chicken, pasta or a Thai salad.

With its lower alcohol content and lean calorie count, Lighten Up is the wine you can drink anywhere. Available nationally in Dan Murphy’s, selected independents and online for an RRP of $20.
